CASTING:
THE BOW MAKER
A Scottish-Brazilian Musical
WORKSHOP
SUMMARY:
Oscar makes bows for the world’s finest string players. When the near-extinction of a rare Brazilian wood puts Oscar’s profession and the future of classical music in jeopardy, he is catapulted from Europe’s concert halls to Brazil’s Atlantic Rainforest. Fusing contemporary classical string music, Brazilian folk music, and musical theatre, The Bow Maker is a modern fairytale bringing together international trade, environmental activism and classical music. For the next stage of the project, we are undertaking a development week with full cast & creative team; culminating in a work-in-progress presentation at Rockvilla, National Theatre of Scotland. The project is supported by Creative Scotland.
